Day 180 & 181
Friday Stats: Walked 40 minutes (2 miles)
Had to cut my walk short due to early appointment at vet's for Griffon.
Saturday Stats: Biked 1 hour, 55 minutes (20 miles)
The boy spent the day with a friend. So, T & I went for a bike ride. Rode from the 'Burg beyond the Continental Divide.
My intention was to log 25 miles. But, we ended up with a late start. We were racing sundown by the end of the ride.
While it was a good ride,--and, probably a good thing to do 20 miles back to back instead of the increased mileage--I feel as if I've been pummeled. My body hurts from head to toe.
I'm taking today (Sunday) off.

Day 174
Stats: Biked 2 hours (14+ miles)
Was going to take the day off. Then, T suggested Jay and I ride bikes with him while he did his long run today. Sounded like a good idea.
We rode along the canal, which is mostly flat. Jay seemed to enjoy it.

Day 168
Stats: Biked 2 hours, 5 minutes (20.24 miles)
Started out at the Burg RR Depot and rode past the Continental Divide. When we started out, I felt as if I were breathing water. So humid. The further north we went, the cooler & less muggy it seemed.
Today, we saw 5 rattlesnakes & 1 unknown. There was a small group checking them out when we arrived. Lots of discussion as to the unknown reptile. Someone thought it was a copperhead. But, apparently an old wive's tale claims copperheads & rattlers will not dwell together. Must do some research to see what kind of snake the little guy was.
All in all, it was a great ride. Though that extra 6 miles put a hurtin' on my backside.

Day 166
Stats: Walked 2 hours, 20 minutes (8 1/2 miles)
Part of that 8 1/2 miles was 1 2/3 laps of running. Not continuously. Ran one full lap. Walked a lap. Then only managed to run 2/3 of the following lap.
The only side effect of today's walk is some pain in the ligament (or whatever it is) that runs from my ankle to the big toe on my left foot.

Day 159
AM Stats: Walked 2 hours, 3 minutes (6 1/4 miles)
When I left the house this morning, I was dragging. But, we ended up talking and losing track of time.
Good way to end our week.
PM Stats: Biked 1 hour, 35 minutes (14.1 miles)
Went with Hubby, Dad & Jay to ride bikes from the Burg to the otherside of the long tunnel.
The most interesting thing happened. Dad & Jay were exploring an old bridge base. It was approximately 20 feet high & a bit of a hill to climb. Well, a man on a 4-wheeler stopped to warn the adventurers that there was a den of rattlesnakes along the path just ahead.
Did we have enough sense to turn around? Nah!
Oh my goodness, it was fascinating.
The rock was easy enough to find. But, the snakes camouflage did it's job well. We finally started being able to see where they were hiding in plain sight. We would be fascinated with one, only to realize there was another coiled inches from the first. All in all, we found 7 rattlers. Some were black. Some were brown. Most were coiled, sunning themselves. One was hyper alert & rattled at us. It was so cool!
None of us had ever seen rattlers in the wild like that. Black snakes & copperheads, sure. But, never rattlers.
It was an amazing experience.

Day 157
Stats: Walked 1 hour, 30 minutes; Run 3 minutes
I ran a lap, today. An entire lap. One fourth of a mile, non-stop, after walking an hour and fifteen minutes. *big grin* That 1 minute 30 second mark gets me every single time. But, I pushed through it and made the entire lap. Yay!
Next goal: 1 1/2 laps

Flunking Weight Watchers
I've been attempting to follow Weight Watchers for exactly 3 days. It hasn't been going so well.
Day 1, Friday...All started out well. I walked. Then came home to a breakfast of one scrambled egg & one slice of toast. The toast was really good--Ancient Grains something or other. Four points and it stayed around awhile.
Then my husband asks if I want to go ride bikes. Sure thing! After our ride, it was time for a late lunch/early dinner. We chose a local seafood place that is really good. Their special that day was a fried fish sandwich with chips & a pickle and a cup of veggie/crab soup.
I could have been good and ordered a salad and bowl of the super yummy veggie/crab soup. And, I really tried to will myself into choosing wisely. The waitress comes to take our orders and "I'll have the special." springs from my mouth. It was delicious!
FAIL!
Saturday, I started out my day very well. Another scrambled egg with that oh so yummy toast. 4 points down. 21 left.
Well, we went out of town. I did choose somewhat wisely for lunch. A salad, just veggies, with Balsamic vinegarette dressing and half of a Smokehouse Turkey Panini from Panera. I love that place!
You see, the problem is none of these places are local. So when I'm there, I want what I want. After all, I never know when we will return. It can be months.
Dinner time comes and off to Olive Garden we go. I love their salad, just for the dressing. And, my favorite entree, the one I get every time, is Shrimp Caprese. I ordered the lunch portion. Unfortunately, our waitor didn't hear, forgot or misunderstood and it was the larger, dinner portion. I enjoyed every last bite of that dish. I should be ashamed. But, it was too good for that.
Then before we left for home, my dear husband--the runner of marathons, the biker of 50+ mile routine rides, the tri-athelete wannabe--suggests stopping at Cold Stone Creamery. Thud! Of course, the boy is totally on board with that. And, since we have never been there before, I really want to try it. And, I order the small size. Sure it has fudge & caramel & chocolate chips & cookie dough all smooshed around in it. The ice cream guy hands me my order and it's the medium size. He dipped too much ice cream. *sigh* And, I ate it. All of it.
In the end, I figured that I used fifty-three points. 5-3 More than twice what I was supposed to use.
Epic Fail
Seriously, this weekend I blew clear through 35 extra points & the 7 activity points. This is why I am fat! And, flunking Weight Watchers.
Today, I'm happy to report that at 10:30 pm, I have 3 points remaining. We even ate out today. But, the thing of it is, I didn't get out of bed until 11 am and have only had 2 meals and a snack.
If I can just get through Thursday, I can start over.
